Monday 19th October - walk ***** – Martlesham Church to Waldringfield for a picnic – mainly cloudy.

Mag went on her early prom walk which she loved but I slept right through it but I did have a drive round Felixstowe at 7.45 taking a few reflection pics for the TV weather after last night’s rain! We then headed to Lidl for a quick shop before breakfast, I then packed a picnic before driving to Walton for a 11.40 dentists appointment. We were then free at midday to find somewhere to go for a walk, a mainly cloudy day with some dark skies but no rain and a light breeze. I didn’t have any idea of where to go but Mag suggest Martlesham Church and walk to Waldringfield over the ‘Wilds’ a new footpath and part of the King Charles coastal route! The traffic was very busy around Martlesham business park but we got through and parked at the end of Church Lane walking past the church and followed the new signs up and down and in and out with lovely views down to the River Deben, so peaceful too with next to no one about, there was a couple of new viewing platforms to see the marshland with sheep grazing and waders calling! We quickly realised the walk was further than expected but we continued as it was all new to us before reaching the back lane that leads down to the Deben and we found a bench for a very welcome rest just past the Maybush pub for yet another yummy chicken sandwich. We had brilliant views out across the water with some really cool dark skies, I took a few pics on my new mobile sending them straight into the TV weather, I was chuffed later when the lovely Chris Page on ITV’s About Anglia used one of my moody pics on the telly! Well rested all we had to do was walk the 3.3 miles back to the van which actually went surprisingly well only getting tired legs when nearing the van, a really brilliant walk of just under 7 miles, not bad for a couple of old people!
